Hip-Hop Homecoming

In 2014, former Tri-C Metropolitan Campus President, Dr. Michael Schoop, had a vision to start an annual “Hip-Hop Homecoming” event on campus. Seven years later, the event continues to breathe life into Metro Campus.
Students typically pack the campus courtyard to see live performances and view graffiti murals in between their classes, but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented us from having a standard Homecoming show in 2020. However, we are committed to offering students, alumni and music fans alike a fantastic show – from a distance!
This year’s virtual event is co-hosted by the College’s very own David Kennedy and Orlando Watson and features a compilation of the best performances, beat competitions and freestyle cyphers from previous years. The show will also feature an interview with former Tri-C JazzFest artist-in-residence and Emmy award-winning producer Karriem Riggins regarding his career, collaborations, current projects and how he’s stayed creative during the pandemic.
