Transient/Visiting Students

If you are attending another college or university and would like to take classes that will transfer back to your home institution, apply as a visiting (transient) student at Tri-C.

Submit a free application online.

The first question asks "What brings you to Tri-C?" Answer, degree programs and certificates. Under "I want to take classes as a", Answer visiting/transient student.

If you are a former Tri-C student, you will need to reapply if you have not attended Tri-C in the past three semesters.

Allow three to five business days to process your application. Application must be processed prior to generating the letter of consent (Step 3).

Sign into my Tri-C space.  As soon as your application is processed, the College will generate your my Tri-C space account. Here, you will obtain important information regarding registration, financial aid and course planning. Within my Tri-C space, you will also have an email account. Remember to check your email regularly for important updates.

  1. Go to my.tri-c.edu.
  2. Click on "Password Tools and Assistance."
  3. Click "Change Your Password" to create a new password.
  4. Enter your Tri-C ID (S-number) and click "Continue."
  5. Enter your date of birth as your old password. Enter in m/d/yyyy format with no leading zeros
  6. Create a new password. Re-enter the password.
  7. Click the "Change" button. You will be redirected to the my Tri-C space login page.
  8. Log in using your student email (S00000000@acad.tri-c.edu) and the password you just created. (You will need to create a new password every 120 days.)

 Multi-Factor Authentication

Once your password is established, you will be required to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) to access certain Tri-C applications or tools. MFA is required by the college due to federal regulations. Read Student MFA Enrollment for detailed instructions. Contact the Tri-C Help Desk with any questions. 216-987-4357 or HelpDesk@tri-c.edu.

Obtain Approval and Submit your Transient Enrollment Request Form

Review Tri-C’s Course List

  • Obtain written approval from your home institution. The letter must list the Tri-C courses you are requesting to take. You can generate a Letter of Consent here for your academic advisor to sign. Your Tri-C application for admission must be processed prior to generating your letter.
  • Attach and submit the approval letter to the online Transient Student Enrollment Request form.
  • If you are unable to get the Letter of Consent from your college you can submit a copy of your unofficial transcript via the Transient Student Enrollment Request form. By submitting an unofficial transcript, you request that Tri-C make an eligibility determination, which is final.

Incomplete forms or missing documentation will result in a processing delay.

Once your transient form is processed, confirmation will be sent to your Tri-C email with instructions on how to register.

Register for classes in the Registration Dashboard on my Tri-C space or in person at Admissions and Financial Services.

Your registration is not complete until you pay your tuition and fees. You must select your form of payment at the time of registration and ensure that all financial arrangements are in place by the payment deadline.

Visiting students are not eligible to receive federal financial aid from Cuyahoga Community College. Please contact your home institution to determine if you are eligible to receive federal financial aid from their office, under a consortium agreement. For more information, or to submit your consortium agreement, contact the financial aid office at consortiums@tri-c.edu.

You will need your Stomp Card to conduct business on any Tri-C campus. You can get your picture taken and have your card printed at Admissions and Enrollment Services after you have registered for courses.

For questions or more information, call 216-987-6000.

Students taking a visiting/transient course must request that an official Tri-C transcript be sent to their home school in order to earn the credit. Students must initiate this process by ordering a transcript from the Registrar's Office.
