ProctorU

Proctored testing may be required in online and blended courses. Tri-C has contracted with ProctorU to provide online test proctoring services to our students. ProctorU offers three services, Live+, Review+, and Record+ Pearson MyLab, as well as faculty training.
ProctorU will be offered for free while the college is teaching fully online due to the COVID19 Virus campus classroom closures. This will cover all online, blended, and in-person courses. Students, please be sure to schedule your test appointment 72 hours in advance! Faculty, please be sure to create your exams two weeks in advance!

Support Info
It is highly recommended that instructors attend a ProctorU training session prior to the activation of their account.
It is highly recommended that test-takers review information on this page as well as the ProctorU Privacy Policy to prepare themselves for taking an exam using ProctorU.
ProctorU requires a webcam, a microphone, and a wired connection to the Internet (wi-fi is not recommended).
Test-takers may log in to their account and schedule their ProctorU appointment on any device. However, when it is time to take the actual exam and connect to ProctorU, test-takers must log in and connect using a Windows PC or Mac. Chromebooks, tablets, smartphones, and other mobile devices are not compatible with ProctorU for the actual test-taking.
Live+ and Review+ support Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox web browsers. Instructors and test-takers must use Chrome or Firefox and install the Chrome ProctorU extension or the Firefox ProctorU Extension prior to taking their exam. Record+ Pearson MyLab only supports Google Chrome and the Chrome ProctorU extension.
Visit ProctorU's "Test It Out" page to test your equipment, bandwidth, and Internet speed or to connect with a live ProctorU representative for tech support.
Test-takers, if you are having difficulty using ProctorU in an online test, contact ProctorU directly at 205-870-8122, extension 1 or 855-772-8678. Students may also use ProctorU's Chat feature or email the ProctorU support desk at help@proctoru.com.
Please, do not call the Tri-C support desk as they will be unable to help you while taking a proctored test.

Live+
Live+ is ideal for exams where live proctoring is required for accreditation, certification, or licensing. Professionally trained live proctors guide test-takers through exam launch, which includes multi-factor identity verification and environment security scans where the student will be asked to remove unpermitted materials before the start of the exam. The live proctor monitors the exam session, flagging and intervening in real-time if an incident occurs. If an incident does occur, faculty will receive an incident report and video recordings of the test-taker’s webcam and computer screen within 24 hours. Faculty can also choose to receive real-time incident notifications. Faculty should setup their exam parameters in ProctorU two weeks prior to the exam being available in Blackboard Learn and students must schedule their appointment with ProctorU 72 hours (three days) in advance of taking the test.
Review+
Review + is ideal for exams where live proctoring is not required for accreditation, certification, or licensing. Professionally trained live proctors guide test-takers through exam launch, which includes multi-factor identity verification and environment security scans where the student will be asked to remove unpermitted materials before the start of the exam. Artificial Intelligence monitors the exam session, flagging suspicious behaviors, such as lighting changes, unusual noises, or consistently looking off screen. All flagged sessions are reviewed by live ProctorU personnel. If an incident does occur, faculty will receive an incident report and video recordings of the test-taker’s webcam and computer screen within 24 hours. Faculty should setup their exam parameters in ProctorU two weeks prior to the exam being available in Blackboard Learn and students must schedule their appointment with ProctorU 72 hours (three days) in advance of taking the test.
Record+ Pearson MyLab
ProctorU Record+ technology is integrated directly into Pearson MyLab Math. Similar to Review+, this option is ideal for exams where live proctoring is not required for accreditation, certification, or licensing. AI is used to verify the identity of the test-taker and to monitor the session, flagging suspicious behaviors such as lighting changes, unusual noises, or consistently looking off screen. All flagged sessions are reviewed by live ProctorU personnel. If an incident does occur, faculty will receive an incident report and video recordings of the test-taker’s webcam and computer screen within 24 hours. The AI cannot differentiate between different types of allowable resources and therefore works best for examinations in which no resources are allowed. No scheduling is required and 24/7 access is available. Instructors may create their exams in Pearson MyLab Math and select the ProctorU Record+ option at any time. Test takers may take their exam at any time within the time window established by the instructor.
