As part of Tri-C’s online education courses, students may be required to take online tests that are proctored by a third party. Often the proctored test is in the form of a midterm or final exam. Additional fees may be incurred for off-campus proctored online testing. Tri-C has contracted with ProctorU to provide this service to our students at a discounted rate. Each fully online student is allowed to take up to two exams, in the form of two 31-60 minute exams OR one 61-120 minute exam free of charge. Any additional exam(s) taken with ProctorU must be paid for by the student. However, online students are able to take advantage of Tri-C's discounted rates. Log in to Blackboard Learn and visit the Student Homepage to see the published discounted ProctorU rates.
It is highly recommend that students review the Student Resource Page to prepare themselves and their work-space for their appointment. This link contains all the information students will need to take a test with ProctorU.
After you have taken your proctored test, your instructor will receive an Incident Report.
Test It Out
Be sure to visit the "Test It Out" page (http://www.proctoru.com/testitout) to ensure you have the best possible testing experience. You will be able to test your equipment, bandwidth and internet speed through the automated system and connect with a "Live" ProctorU representative 24/7 for tech support if needed. It is highly recommended that you test your computer a few hours prior to your appointment. This test will take a few minutes to complete. You should have a wired connection to the internet (wi-fi is not recommended), a webcam, and a microphone (a tablet or smartphone will not work).
You may be required to take a proctored exam or test at a testing center. You can find more information on testing centers on Tri-C's Academic Testing page.
If you are having difficulty using ProctorU in an online test, contact ProctorU directly at 205-870-8122 ext.1 or 855-772-8678. Students may also use ProctorU's "Chat Now" feature located at the bottom right corner of www.proctoru.com, or email the ProctorU support desk at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please, do not call the Tri-C support desk as they will be unable to help you while taking a proctored test.
Chromebooks, tablets and mobile devices are not compatible with ProctorU. Students must connect using a PC or Mac.
New Faculty Training
It is highly recommend that instructors new to ProctorU complete a workshop with a ProctorU Faculty Representative to cover the features of their account and enter their exam. ProctorU's Faculty Representatives are the point of contact for instructors for training and refresher sessions and if they need assistance or have any questions.
