Enrollment

Automotive Technology Enrollment Process

  • Students must complete the action items listed below to be eligible to register for classes.
  • We encourage students to complete these actions prior to June 1 for fall enrollment.
  • All automotive classes are only offered in person at the Western Campus in Parma.
  • Questions on navigating the enrollment process can be directed to 216-987-5330 during evening virtual sessions or through one-on-one appointments with the program director.

Complete the Tri-C Application
Create an account using a personal email address and select "Degree or Certificate Program." Then, scroll down to select an automotive program (not automation).

Interested in the Ford ASSET or GM ASEP corporate program?

After completing the Tri-C application above, complete the Ford ASSET or GM ASEP application.

Schedule an interview with the program director and faculty coordinator.

Explore sponsored dealership placement (complete by June 1).

  • Review Google Maps for participating Ford* and General Motors dealerships close to home.
  • Apply to a dealership, and email the program director after you have completed a dealership application.
  • Prepare for the interview by polishing your resume and practicing an elevator speech with the help of Tri-C Career Services.
  • Email, call or visit in person to connect with a dealership service manager and arrange an interview as a technician.
  • Communicate with the program director once your dealership employment is secured.

*Not all Ford dealerships are available for ASSET student employment. See Google Maps.

All students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is required for federal aid, scholarships and grants.

  • Complete the FAFSA at fafsa.gov. School code: 003040.
  • If this is your first time completing an application for federal financial aid, you must first create an FSA ID.

Complete the Tri-C scholarship application, private automotive scholarships and, for those eligible, Choose Ohio First.

Consider tuition incentives to further reduce your tuition cost. (GM and Ford students should complete the 30 perks form).

Tuition rates are set by residency rate. Confirm your residency rate is correct in your Tri-C acceptance email.

All payment options can be explored on Tri-C's Paying for College web page. Multiple payment methods can be used together.

Send official transcripts by requesting the release of your GED or high school diploma and/or test scores to Tri-C.

Check your Tri-C email for updates regarding the receipt of your documents and to see if math or English placement testing is required.

Visit the Tri-C Testing Centers web page for placement options or download them.

Student Accessibility Services (SAS): Different from high school, students with disabilities must self-identify by completing the electronic form, uploading documentation and meeting with a Tri-C SAS coordinator prior to their classes to start receiving accommodation in the classroom or testing environment. It is recommended students arrange accommodations prior to testing and six weeks before classes begin.

Students in the short-term certificate program do NOT need to complete placement testing, orientation or counseling. Email the program director to confirm this exemption.

Depending on your major, this step varies.

Short-term certificate:
No orientation or counseling appointment is required to complete these first four classes. Email the program director to confirm this exemption.

Certificate of Proficiency and Associate of Applied Science:

  1. Once your math and English placements are satisfied (review your Tri-C email), complete the New Student Orientation virtually or in person.
  2. Schedule a counseling appointment. Once the counseling appointment is completed, you can register for classes online.
  3. Get registration support from the Admissions and Enrollment Services via phone, chat or in person during designated hours.

Corporate Program: Ford ASSET and GM ASEP
Students must attend an in-person session in late July to complete orientation, meet a counselor and register for classes. To fully participate, all previous enrollment steps must be completed prior to this event.

After registering, present a photo ID to the Admission and Enrollment Services desk to get your photo taken, and wait for your Stomp Card to be printed. You can load money on this card or use it at the bookstore to purchase books using financial aid funds. To find books for registered classes, log in to my Tri-C space and click on the "Campus Services" card, or visit your bookstore with a copy of your schedule.
