Essential Learning Outcomes

ELO

Students who graduate from Cuyahoga Community College with an Associate degree will be knowledgeable and competent in the following Institutional Outcomes, known as Essential Learning Outcomes (ELOs). Our ELOs were created in conjunction with Tri-C faculty and various other stakeholders at the College.

The Guides were created to explain the ELOs in depth, and to help faculty decide if an ELO applies to their course. The Rubrics are the document our Assessors use for artifact assessment.

ELO Cycle

The College assesses ELOs on a rotating cycle, with two or three ELOs assessed each year. We are currently back to Year Two of the cycle.

Year One: Information literacy and written communication. Year Two: Civic responsibility and cultural sensitivity. Year Three: Oral communication, quantitative reasoning and critical/creative thinking — Three year ELO Cycle
