SPOL: Tri-C's New Assessment Software
Tri-C is now using SPOL online software to collect your ELO, CLA and PLO data all in one place! The institution is no longer using SurveyMonkey or an LMS.
Making Outcomes Meaningful to Faculty
A Bit of History
Faculty have long been the backbone of course assessment at Tri-C. We teach the courses, do formative assessments throughout the term, and then assess student performance at the end of that term. At the same time, the faculty and College work together on outcomes assessment at the course, program and institutional levels.
Over the last 10 years, we've all worked to develop a comprehensive assessment system that addresses the needs of our students, accreditors and the state. What haven't we done as well? Made the results of the outcomes assessment available and meaningful to faculty and counterparts. In Academic Year 2025-2026, we'll work on changing that.
A New Assessment Tool
This academic year, the College is rolling out new assessment software, SPOL, which will replace SurveyMonkey. SPOL will help faculty counterparts collect and analyze their outcomes assessment data. Of course, for course outcomes, faculty will continue to decide which of their outcomes to assess, how to assess them, and what kind of data to collect.
The difference? With SPOL, each faculty member will have access to their own data. Faculty will be better able to determine where outcomes are met, when the data falls short of their own benchmarks, and what they can do to improve outcomes.

How do I submit my PLO data?
For degree programs, your CLA data will automatically pull into your PLO data once you decide which course outcomes apply to each PLO!
Your first PLO is built into SPOL for you. If you want to use a different PLO to begin with, email us with the following information:
- The PLO
- The associated courses and course outcomes
Example:
1. PLO #2: Safely Administer Medication
2. Associated Courses and Course Outcomes:
WERT 1010: Apply the "Five Rights" of medication administration.
WERT 1500: Apply correct techniques for measuring.
WERT 2200: Analyze how pharmacological principles influence safe medication administration. Evaluate patient-specific factors before administering medications.
WERT 2300: Administer medications in a clinical setting following legal and ethical guidelines. Create accurate and timely documentation of medication administration using electronic health record systems.
