College Credit Plus Placement Testing

College Credit Plus (CCP) Placement Testing

High school students interested in College Credit Plus (CCP) must be considered eligible to participate.

A student can be considered eligible in one of the following ways:

  • A cumulative, unweighted 3.0 GPA.
  • A qualifying test score on a state-approved exam such as ACT, SAT, Accuplacer or ALEKS.
  • In grade 11 or 12 with a 2.75-2.99 cumulative, unweighted GPA.

Once students are eligible, if they wish to participate in the College Credit Plus program at Tri-C, they also need to have a placement score. English placement scores are required for participation in most Tri-C courses. Math placement scores are only required if students plan to take a math course or a course with a math prerequisite.

Students should also review the My Online Readiness Assessment (M.O.R.E) prior to the start of the term as they adjust to a virtual or hybrid college environment.

English Placement
Students who have completed 10th grade or higher can be placed into college-level English with a 3.0 GPA. All students can be placed with a qualifying ACT (18+) or SAT (480+). Students in grades 7-10 with a 3.0 GPA or higher must take Tri-C's English placement essay test. Click here to log into my Tri-C space and schedule your virtual appointment.
Math Placement
Students who have completed 9th grade or higher, have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above and have completed Algebra II can be placed based on high school coursework. Students with qualifying ACT (21+) or SAT (520+) scores do not need to take the math test. If math course or ACT, SAT scores do not yield placement, student needs to take the ALEKS math assessment at a Tri-C campus.
