Student Leadership Certificate Program

Tri-C SLCPBuild your skills. Find your voice. Lead your community.

The Student Leadership Certificate Program (SLCP) is a noncredit certificate program offered through Student Life. Grow as a leader, explore your strengths and gain experience that helps your resume—and you—stand out.

Why Join?

  • Connect with leadership opportunities across Tri-C
  • Build your resume and strengthen your career readiness
  • Develop confidence, leadership skills and community awareness
  • Earn recognition and celebrate your achievement

How It Works

Complete seven meaningful activities over the academic year to earn your Student Leadership Certificate:

  1. Completion Plan and Mentorship Meeting: Meet with a Student Life Advisor (SLA) to set goals, build a milestone timeline and launch your SLCP journey.
  2. Knowing Self and Others: Explore identity, communication and collaboration—tools to better lead and connect with others.
  3. Values and Representation: Learn how your personal values connect to civic systems at the local, state and federal levels.
  4. Student Leadership Retreat or Five Student Leadership Virtual Workshops: Attend our in-person retreat or choose events from our virtual workshop series that matches your interests and schedule.
  5. 25 Hours of Community Service: Serve your community while building leadership, teamwork and purpose.
  6. Resume Update with Career Marketplace: Work one-on-one with Career Marketplace to highlight your SLCP experience and leadership skills.
  7. Capstone Presentation: My SLCP Story: Reflect on your journey and present how you've grown as a leader.

Important Dates:

  • Students must sign up by Friday, Feb. 12, 2027
  • Activities and community service must be completed Aug. 24, 2026 – April 1, 2027
