What do I need to do to be accepted into the Sport and Exercise Studies Program?

Refer to the Application Process and Prerequisites sections on this website.

How do I find out if I am accepted into the SES program?

Only applicants with complete files will receive an acceptance letter . Acceptance letters are typically sent out prior to the beginning of Fall or Spring semester.  At that time, information is sent regarding further correspondence.

What does the practicum experience include?

According to the program sequence, the SES 2840: Practicum course is offered the fourth semester (Spring Semester).  The SES 2840 practicum course consists of a weekly one-hour seminar and 120 hours of practicum experience (minimum of 8 hours per week) at a designated fitness, recreation, and/or wellness facility.  The course is 16-weeks in length.

What practicum sites are available?

The SES program has affiliation agreements with a variety of fitness, recreation, and hospital based wellness centers in Cuyahoga and Summit counties. For a complete list of practicum sites, refer to the Accreditation and Partnership section.

What type of GPA is required in the SES program?

  • Health Career programs do not accept Pass/No Pass grading for core SES courses.
  • A letter grade of "C" or better must be achieved for all SES courses.
  • Overall cumulative GPA of 2.0 must be maintained.

How much does the Sport and Exercise Studies Program cost?

The table below represents an estimate of the cost for completing the SES program in two years (attending Fall, Spring, Summer semesters).   Every student’s situation is different. Costs can vary depending on the following: County of residence - Number of semesters -Campus Security and Maintenance Fee - Number of pertinent transferred courses - New or used texts

Is financial aid available?
