MetroHealth Opportunity Center at Vía Sana

The MetroHealth Opportunity Center at Vía Sana in Cleveland’s Clark-Fulton neighborhood is a vibrant community space focused on education and training. Programming includes cooking demos, financial literacy workshops, support groups and more. It also hosts the Tri-C Access Center, which provides education and job training services.

Fall 2026 Courses/Workshops

Ethics for Health Care Professionals

• Tuesday, Aug. 24 - Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026 (eight weeks)
• Every Tuesday from 5:30 - 6:20 p.m.

Introduction to clinical law and ethics for healthcare professionals, focusing on key concepts, ethical decision-making, professional-patient relationships, and case studies.

1 Credit Course

Prerequisite: ENG-0995 Applied College Literacies, or appropriate score on English Placement Test.

Nursing and Health Care Professions First Year Seminar

• Tuesday, Aug. 24 - Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026 (eight weeks)
• Every Tuesday from 6:30 - 7:20 p.m.

This seminar introduces students to the Tri-C community, student success resources, and essential academic skills. Students will also explore nursing and healthcare careers, professional expectations, communication, cultural competence, and skills needed for success in the healthcare field.

1 Credit Course

Prerequisite: None.

Introduction to Pharmacology

• Wednesday, Sept. 9 - Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026 (14 weeks)
• Every Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 - 6:25 p.m.

Introduction to pharmacology, including drug classifications, uses, administration, dosage calculations, and therapeutic management of common disease processes.

2 Credit Course

Prerequisites: ENG-0995 Applied College Literacies (or appropriate English Placement Test score) and MATH-0915 Basic Arithmetic (or qualified Math Placement).

Introduction to Medical Terminology

• Sunday, Oct. 18 - Sunday, Dec. 13, 2026 (eight weeks)
• Every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 - 6:25 p.m.

Introduction to medical terminology for healthcare professionals, focusing on word building, definitions, spelling, reading, and pronunciation. Provides a foundation for success in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology courses.
