WIT History
The Ohio General Assembly launched the pilot project in 1978 as The Displaced Homemakers program. Originally a credited course at Tri-C’s Eastern Campus, the program provided services and referrals for women who were divorced, had lost financial security and had limited skills. Over the years the program has thrived under different leaders, rally trips to Columbus and new initiatives.
In 2006, the program changed its name to the WIT program. The current program helps women experiencing transitional phases in their lives develop workforce skills and complete their degrees.
