Summer Financial Aid Options

Take a class at Tri-C this summer

Summer is a great time to keep moving towards graduation and financial aid is available to eligible Cuyahoga Community College students who plan to enroll in the Summer 2025 Sessions, including newly admitted students. This webpage will outline the steps on applying for financial aid for the summer and some basic financial aid information about the type of aid available.

Steps for Applying for Summer Aid

Step 1: If you have not already done so, complete the 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The FAFSA will be available until June 30, 2025 for students to complete.

Step 2: Review your current financial aid status in My Tri-C Space or call the Student Financial Aid & Scholarships Office to ensure that all requirements and documentation have been submitted.

Step 3: Review your financial aid award to see if you currently have financial aid awarded for the Summer semester. If not, go to Step 4. If you do have financial aid, but it is not enough to cover your summer charges, contact Student Financial Aid & Scholarships Office to discuss other financial aid options.

Step 4: Register for summer classes in your program of study.  Courses scheduled that are not part of your degree audit will not count as financial aid eligible courses.

Step 5: Once registered for the summer semester, your financial aid award will be revised to include summer and you will receive an email letting you know to log into My Tri-C Space to review your updated financial aid award.

Types of Summer Aid

Students that used their entire full-time Federal Pell Grant during the Fall and Spring semesters are now eligible for an additional semester of Federal Pell Grant eligibility, provided that the student enrolls at least half-time (6 credit hours) and is meeting other basic eligibility guidelines.

Ohio residents who have exhausted their Pell Grant, may be eligible for OCOG to help offset some of the tuition costs. To read more about OCOG, please visit the Ohio Department of Education website.

Students that have not exhausted their loan eligibility over the Fall and Spring semesters can use any remaining eligibility towards their summer charges, provided they are enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours).

The Summer Internship Program is for students who seek an opportunity to gain real world experience.

To learn more about more about the program and eligibility requirements, please visit the Career Center webpage.

Cuyahoga Community College has many scholarship opportunities available to Tri-C students. We invite all Tri-C students to apply for scholarship opportunities. For details visit Apply for Scholarships.

Students who are currently employed as federal work-study students, can continue to work during summer as needed by their employer. Money earned through work-study is part of your total financial aid package. You can work up to 20 hours per week for most positions.

To learn more about federal work-study, please visit our Work-Study webpage.

Students can find out more information about the summer aid eligibility by logging on to My Tri-C Space. Changes to your summer enrollment may result in summer financial aid changes. Monitor your My Tri-C Space email account for any communication from the Student Financial Aid & Scholarships Office. Please visit our Important Dates Webpage for details regarding important disbursement dates and other important deadlines.
