Tri-C Awarded More Than $400,000 For Statewide Choose Ohio First Program
Scholarships support students pursuing careers in STEM fields
CLEVELAND — Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) has been awarded $409,150 through Ohio's Choose Ohio First (COF) program, a scholarship initiative aimed at strengthening the state's workforce competitiveness in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine or health careers.
The Ohio Department of Higher Education announced the award to 59 total higher education institutions in May. Funding is awarded for four years from the 2027–2028 academic year through the 2031–2032 year.
At Tri-C, COF program scholarships are awarded on a competitive-application basis and may be renewed until graduation. Scholarship recipients participate in a variety of activities promoting creativity, collaboration, self-confidence and degree completion.
The College prepares students and learners for stable, thriving-wage careers that meet regional workforce demand. Through employer partnerships, applied credentials and emerging bachelor's degrees, Tri-C builds a skilled talent pipeline that supports business growth and long-term competitiveness.
The scholarship began in 2008 as part of an effort to increase the number of Ohio students enrolling in and completing STEM programs at the state's community colleges and four-year institutions.
