Tri-C Launches 60th Anniversary Celebration With Opportunities to Support Student Success and Scholarships

Tri-C Day, collaborations with Melt and Sibling Revelry commemorate 60 years of building futures

Graphic with image of sandwich from Melt and details to participateCLEVELAND — Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) has selected Tri-C Day, its seventh annual day of pride and giving, to kick off its Diamond Jubilee celebration. Join Tri-C in honoring the College’s history with a host of activities leading up to its 60th anniversary celebration in September.

In addition to the 24-hour Tri-C Day giving campaign, employees, alumni and community members can help raise money for student scholarships through anniversary collaborations with two of Northeast Ohio’s food and drink legends.

Since 1963, Tri-C has provided high-quality, affordable education and training to more than one million people — one of whom is Matt Fish, owner/founder of Melt Bar and Grilled, who earned a degree in culinary arts and hospitality management in 1997. Fish opened the first Melt in Lakewood in 2006 and today operates nine locations.

In honor of Tri-C’s anniversary, Fish and the Melt team created the Ultimate Chili Cheese Dog and the College Mac Daddy Dog to pair with Sibling Revelry’s Triceratops IPA, named for Tri-C’s mascot.

  • Ultimate Chili Cheese Dog: Jumbo smoked sausage, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese sauce, four-bean chili, fried jalapenos, sour cream and choice of melted cheese.
  • College Mac Daddy Dog: Jumbo smoked sausage, mac and cheese, Cheetos cheddar cheese sauce, crumbled bacon, crushed Cheetos, and Romano and American cheeses.

Both sandwiches have vegetarian and spicy options and are available only at the Lakewood, Independence, Mentor, Avon, Akron and Easton (Columbus) locations throughout April.

On Tri-C Day (April 4) and Tri-C's Dine to Donate days (every Friday in April), 20% of a Melt dine-in or carryout bill will go to the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation to support student scholarships. Patrons must present a physical or digital flyer available at tri-c.edu/dineanddonate when ordering.

Thanks to a collaboration with Sibling Revelry Brewing in Westlake, The Tri-C Foundation will receive 10% of Triceratops IPA sales throughout 2023. Sibling Revelry created this special IPA just for Tri-C to celebrate its 60th anniversary and support student scholarships. The IPA is available in their Westlake taproom, known for its welcoming environment and view of their brewhouse. The brew is also available at Melt Bar and Grilled as well as retail locations to be announced.

  • Triceratops IPA: Pine, citrus and stone fruit aromas with a clean, dry finish.
