Adjunct Development and Professional Training (ADAPT)

ADAPT

The Adjunct Development and Professional Training (ADAPT) program offers adjunct faculty an opportunity to enhance their classroom success and foster engagement within the Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) community.

Great news for our dedicated lecturers! You're invited to apply for the Adjunct Development and Professional Training (ADAPT) stipend program. This exciting opportunity provides financial support to help you advance your skills, grow as an educator, and elevate your professional career. Don't miss this chance to invest in your future and continue making a powerful impact on our students.

Important Note: Your tenure will determine which track you're eligible for. Please consult with Adjunct Services to learn more and see which track is right for you.

ADAPT tracks emphasize interdisciplinary approaches, pedagogy and technology skills while introducing innovative teaching strategies, instructional methods and emerging technologies.

  • Enhanced teaching practice
  • Increased student engagement
  • Effective assessment and evaluation skills
  • Professional development

Join us for ADAPT Virtual Information Sessions:

  • Monday, Oct. 13 | Noon – 1 p.m. – Hosted by Westshore Campus
  • Friday, Oct. 24 | Noon – 1 p.m. – Hosted by Eastern Campus
  • Wednesday, Oct. 29 | Noon – 1 p.m. – Hosted by Western Campus

Depending upon their tenure, adjunct faculty can participate in one of three ADAPT professional development opportunities:

Track I: First-Year Cohort

  • For adjunct faculty who are new hires and new to teaching at Tri-C or any institution and rehires who have been inactive for one or more years.
  • This is the only option for newly hired adjuncts to participate in the adjunct faculty stipend program and earn $500 in their first year.

Customized Curriculum:
Personalized instruction designated by the school dean or associate dean. (two to three hours self-paced on-demand micro-courses, virtual and/or in-person sessions)

Safeguarding Student Privacy (ADJ1113):
Your FERPA Training for Adjunct Faculty: As a new adjunct faculty member, understanding the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is crucial. This brief training will demonstrate how to safeguard student privacy, outline confidential information, and outline your responsibilities in managing student records. (one hour, virtual)

Ensuring a Safe Campus (ADJ1112):
Your Title IX Training: Welcome, new adjunct faculty! This Title IX training will teach you about preventing and responding to sex discrimination, including sexual harassment and violence. You will learn your role as a mandatory reporter and the resources available to student records. (one hour, virtual)

Syllabus Creation Workshop (ADJ1114):
Join us for an informative workshop on syllabus creation, presented by the Office of Curriculum and hosted by Adjunct Services! This session will cover essential requirements, including Part A (Required Instructional Components) and Part B (Required Institutional Policies). The Office of Curriculum will also share valuable best practices to help you craft an effective and comprehensive syllabus. (1.5 hours, virtual)

After attending this workshop, you will have the opportunity to sign up for a half-hour, one-on-one feedback and assistance session with an academic dean. You must bring a prepared draft of your syllabus to your feedback session. A sign-up link will be provided at the workshop. (30 minutes – one hour, virtual)

Adjunct Faculty Boot Camp Day (ADJ1115):
New and returning adjuncts, get set for an in-person Adjunct Boot Camp Day, hosted by Adjunct Services! This power-packed event connects you with essential campus resources and key presenters from:

  • Student Accessibility Services (SAS)
  • Student Affairs
  • Registrar’s Office
  • Instructional Design & Learning Excellence (IDLE)
  • Reading Specialist
  • Learning Commons
  • and more special guests!

Enjoy "Lunch with the Deans." Don't miss this crucial day to kickstart your semester! (Five to six hours, in-person)

Track II: Second-Year Cohort

  • For new hires who have completed Track I, rehires who have been inactive for less than one year, and those who the school dean or associate dean specifically designates to participate.
  • This is the only option for newly hired adjuncts to participate in the adjunct faculty stipend program and earn $500 in their second year.

Launching Fall 2026: Prepare for Impact!

Track III: Third-Year and Beyond Cohort

  • For adjunct faculty who have completed three years or more of teaching and those who are specifically designated by the school dean or associate dean to participate.
  • This is the only option for adjuncts in their third year and beyond at Tri-C to participate in the adjunct faculty stipend program and earn $500 each academic year.

  • Faculty Scholarship and Engagement
  • Student Success
  • Teaching and Learning Strategies
  • Technology for Teaching

Upon completion of ten (10) SEUs, it is the responsibility of the adjunct faculty member to complete the electronic Stipend Request form to receive payment. Note: enter your S-number and desktop password to access the form.

Adjunct Development and Professional Training (ADAPT) Stipend Request Form

  • Complete all fields and the survey.
  • Upload a copy of your Compass transcript.
  • The Adjunct Service Office at your campus will review your transcript, notify you of approval, and submit your request for payment.

To Upload a Compass Transcript:

  1. Go to my Tri-C space > Employee Tab > Compass
  2. Click on Learning Tab > View your Transcript
  3. Click on the down arrow next to “Active” and select “Completed”
  4. Click Options > Export to PDF > Open > Save
  5. Upload your transcript in Word or PDF at the end of this Stipend Request electronic form

Deadline to Submit:

Starting immediately, stipend payments will no longer be processed during the summer semester. This change is being made to simplify administrative tasks and ensure that funds are disbursed more efficiently during the main academic terms. The final deadline for all stipend submissions for the academic year is April 15. All required documentation must be submitted by this date to ensure timely processing. If your submission is received after April 15, your payout will occur during the upcoming academic year. We encourage you to submit your stipend requests well in advance to avoid any potential delays. Stipends are paid once per academic year, and you will not be eligible to submit until the following academic year.

Important Notes:

  • Other Department Training: Training and development opportunities provided by departments (internal or external to Tri-C) other than those listed above can also be eligible for SEUs. These are evaluated by Adjunct Services and will also be noted in the Compass description.
  • Add External Training to your transcript in Compass – Employee Success Center
  • Not all workshops attended and listed on your Compass transcript may be stipend eligible – prior approval is needed for some workshops by the facilitator
  • ‘Aggregate Training Completed’ does not necessarily indicate or equate to SEUs completed.
  • Each faculty member must keep track of their stipend eligible training complete.
  • Full-time Administrative Staff: Please be aware that workshops must be taken outside your normal work hours. Taking vacation and personal time to cover the workshops does not make them eligible for the stipend.

Please contact Adjunct Services if you have questions.
