CDL Program

These courses are designed to familiarize the student with the skills required to obtain a Class A or B CDL. The Ohio Department of Public Safety licenses this program as CDL Driver Training.

160-Hour Commercial Driver’s License A:

  • 40 hours of classroom instruction
  • 10 hours of CDL permit testing preparation
  • 40 hours minimum of skills training behind the wheel, including maneuverability and road training
  • 70 hours of combined time spent observing skills, working on the pre-trip inspection required to pass the state CDL test and taking the actual test
  • Cost: $6,000, which includes $5,800 in tuition and $200 administrative fees and non-refundable testing fees

120-hour Commercial Driver’s License B:

  • 40 hours of classroom instruction
  • 10 hours of skills pad (maneuverability)
  • 10 hours minimum behind-the-wheel road training
  • Additional 20 hours of driving behind the wheel (BTW) to learn maneuverability and road skills
  • 40 hours of combined time spent observing skills, working on the pre-trip inspection required to pass the state CDL skills test, and taking the actual test
  • Cost: $4,700, which includes $4,500 in tuition and $200 administrative fees and non-refundable testing fees
