Pregnancy Modifications
Title IX, the federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, also applies to pregnancy.
Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) provides reasonable and responsive modifications, when requested, to allow a student who is pregnant to continue to access their education.
Reasonable modifications may apply through the course of pregnancy, birth, lactation and recovery. A modification is not reasonable if it would fundamentally alter a course or program.
A reasonable modification is based on individual circumstances and may vary from student to student. Some courses or programs, due to location or attendance requirements, will require different modifications. Medical documentation is sometimes requested.
Students should contact the Title IX Coordinator to request reasonable modifications at their earliest opportunity. The Title IX Coordinator may need to consult with the student, program director, and/or course instructor to help identify the appropriate reasonable modifications to best address the student's needs.
