Mission and Goals of the Behavior Intervention Team

Cuyahoga Community College is committed to addressing the growing need in the college community for centralized, coordinated, caring developmental interventions for students in need. The Behavior Intervention Team (BIT) is designed to address these needs proactively.

Each Tri-C campus is equipped with a BIT team which meets regularly to review reports related to students in distress and develops a plan to intervene and address the situation utilizing referrals and College services. BIT teams and the Behavior Intervention process is not connected to the Student Conduct process of the College and it is not a direct service to students.

Campus BIT teams are typically comprised of the following individuals, however, teams vary by campus and membership can change year to year:

  • Dean of Student Affairs
  • Assistant Dean of Student Affairs
  • Director of Counseling
  • Sergeant, Campus Police Department
  • Clinical Psychologist (Counseling Department)
  • Representative from Student Accessibility Services
