The Online Associate of Arts Committee formed in 2018 to develop a fully online degree program at Cuyahoga Community College. The committee was charged with providing a flexible option for students who may not be able to attend classes in person.

Initial program goals:

  • Increase retention and completion rates
  • Offer education to students beyond the College’s current reach
  • Boost economic development within Northeast Ohio

Enrollment has grown significantly since the official launch of the Online AA in fall 2020, thanks to the development of recruitment strategies, enhanced student support and the continued improvement of virtual services.

The program specialist took on a new role within the College, and an interim was appointed to continue growing and advancing the program.

Andy Sokolich was hired as program manager in spring 2022. He has since expanded the program’s reach through marketing and recruitment campaigns, and his diligence in helping students through the enrollment process resulted in the largest incoming class to date for Fall 2022.
