Tri-C Times Highlights First-Generation Students
Fall 2025 issue also looks at how athletics recruiting is changing
The Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) community witnesses extraordinary moments every year — some of which begin with a single step.
For a majority of Tri-C students, that extraordinary moment might be their first step onto a Tri-C campus, which represents the first time anyone in their family has set foot on a college campus as a student.
In the Fall 2025 issue of Tri-C Times, readers will learn how the College is removing financial, social and cultural barriers to access and completion for first-generation students. The story also details how first-generation students are more than just a point of pride for families — they provide real career benefits for graduates and help add momentum to our region's economy.
The issue also highlights other extraordinary moments across the College:
- Read how the face of athletics recruitment is changing. Four-year colleges and universities aren't just looking to the high-school ranks for their next star athletes — they're looking to community colleges like Tri-C.
- Meet faculty member Brian Johnson, Ph.D., an assistant professor of humanities who brings the material in his classes to life through classic texts and today's urban legends.
- Read about Fairview Park police officer and Tri-C alumna Bethany Toth, who turned a passion for helping people into a career in law enforcement.
- Get to know Ann and Lou Frangos, who are longtime supporters of the College, with Ann serving on our Board of Trustees. The Pantry at Tri-C Westshore Campus was recently dedicated in their honor.
