Tri-C Students Bring ‘Death of a Salesman’ to Playhouse Square

College production of classical tragedy set for Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at Mimi Ohio Theatre

Poster for 'Death of a Salesman' productionTheater students from Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) will bring an American tragedy to life as they present Death of a Salesman while retaking the stage at Playhouse Square.

Performances will take place Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at the Mimi Ohio Theatre. Students from multiple Tri-C campuses will perform and work behind the scenes to present the play on one of the nation’s grandest stages.

Death of a Salesman begins at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at www.playhousesquare.org or by calling 216-241-6000. Admission is free for Tri-C students and $5 for students from other schools. Group rates are also available.

This is the fourth year Tri-C students have staged a production at downtown’s Playhouse Square. The Mimi Ohio Theatre is located at 1511 Euclid Ave.

Death of a Salesman is an American classic by award-winning playwright Arthur Miller. The play premiered on Broadway in 1949, with the sad tale of salesman Willy Loman retold countless times in the following decades.

The play is a montage of Loman’s life, exploring the memories, dreams, confrontations and arguments of his flawed past. This path to despair ends with Loman taking his own life after concluding he’s worth more dead than alive.

Previews of the play will also be presented at Tri-C’s John P. Murphy Foundation Theatre at Metropolitan Campus. These rehearsals — which are free and open to the public — will take place at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24-26 and 10:30 a.m. Oct. 24.

For more information on the previews, visit www.tri-c.edu/theatrearts. Metropolitan Campus is located at 2900 Community College Avenue in Cleveland.
