Tri-C Gallery East Explores Mental Health Through Art
Exhibit runs from March 5 through April 9 at Eastern Campus
HIGHLAND HILLS — An exhibit at the Eastern Campus of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) focuses on the use of art to explore the concepts of healing and inspiration through the creative process.
The 25th annual Art and Healing Exhibition, featuring artwork across a variety of mediums, will run from March 5 – April 9 at Gallery East.
This free exhibit — titled Art as a Path to Peace In a Turbulent World — is presented by Tri-C's Creative Arts and Pre-Art Therapy departments and Ursuline College's Counseling and Art Therapy department.
An opening reception will take place at 6 p.m. on March 5 and includes a keynote address, "Art Speaks for Social Justice," from art therapists Katherine Jackson, Melissa Hladek, and Shayna Mell that highlights advancements in the art therapy industry. The exhibit hall includes hands-on projects, research displays and silent auctions, and other features. Gallery hours are 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Tri-C is closed from March 9 – 13 for Spring Break.
The College will also host two workshops on March 6. The cost to attend is $45 per workshop, and professionals can earn four continuing education credits for participating. To preregister, complete the form at the Arts and Healing Exhibition website.
The Eastern Campus is located at 4250 Richmond Road in Highland Hills. Gallery East is in Room 135 of the Education Center, which is best accessed from Robert Bishop Drive, off Harvard Road.
The exhibition is cosponsored by the Buckeye Art Therapy Association.
