HIGHLAND HILLS — Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) Eastern Campus President Todd Kitchen, Ed.D., received the inaugural General Carter F. Ham Distinguished Leadership Award from the Newton D. Baker Chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA).
The honor recognizes individuals or organizations whose leadership and service have made a significant impact in the Northeast Ohio region. Kitchen accepted the award during the chapter's 250th Army Birthday Breakfast in June at the Eastern Campus.
Kitchen, a U.S. Army veteran, served from 1989-1998 with assignments at Fort Riley in Kansas and Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. He was also deployed to Germany and the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Tri-C's commitment to veterans and military families spans more than six decades. Since opening in 1963, the College has supported and educated more than 40,000 veterans and active service members, helping them transition from military to civilian careers.
AUSA is a nonprofit educational and professional development organization that advocates for a strong national defense and supports soldiers, veterans and Army families across the country.
Kitchen has led Tri-C's Eastern Campus since 2021, guiding efforts to expand access to education and workforce development opportunities in Greater Cleveland.
