Tri-C, CSU Presidents Forging Strong Relationship

Signal Cleveland interview highlights friendship between Michael Baston and Laura Bloomberg

Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) president Michael Baston and Cleveland State University president Laura Bloomberg have quickly developed a positive relationship and friendship early on while leading their institutions.

In an interview with Signal Cleveland, they said they speak often about the region’s challenges and how their institutions must continue to address barriers to entry, strengthen program alignment and broaden career pathways.

“We recognize that as we align the conversations, the strategies, that there are things that we can do to make a difference,” Baston said.

Bloomberg began her tenure as CSU president in April, and Baston started at Tri-C in July. Among their collaborations are a panel on workforce diversity, a letter to the editor on cleveland.com on the need to broaden educational access and opportunities, and a joint educational summit between Tri-C and CSU’s leadership teams.
