Tri-C's Autumn Blaze 5K to Take Place Oct. 10
Race winds through Western Campus and benefits local nonprofit agencies
PARMA — Participants can work up a sweat and support local organizations during the Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) Autumn Blaze 5K on the Western Campus.
Proceeds from the race benefit three local organizations — the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, the United Negro College Fund and United Way of Greater Cleveland. These agencies provide direct services to those in the regional community with the greatest needs. The race began in 2015.
Last year's race raised more than $5,600.
The 12th annual Autumn Blaze 5K Run, 5K Walk and 1-Mile Walk begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Tri-C's Western Campus in Parma. The fast and flat course winds through the campus grounds at 11000 Pleasant Valley Road.
This year's race includes two new features: friends and family can register to run together as a team, and participants can wear retro clothing as a nod to the 60th anniversary of the Western Campus.
Registration for the Autumn Blaze 5K is available online. Preregistration is $30 for community members and $25 for Tri-C students. All runners and walkers registered by Sept. 28 will receive an Autumn Blaze shirt. On-site registration will be available beginning at 8 a.m. on the day of the race. Shirts for day-of registrants will be available while supplies last.
The 5K race will be chip-timed and will include music, light refreshments and a medal ceremony. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female runners and the top three male and female finishers in each age group.
