At their regular meeting this afternoon, the Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) Board of Trustees voted to approve the appointment of Kevin Clayton to the Board, retroactive to April 21. Clayton will hold the position until Jan. 1, 2030.
Clayton is the Executive Vice President and Chief Impact and Equity Officer for Rock Entertainment Group (REG). REG encompasses:
- the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers
- the AHL Cleveland Monsters
- the NBA G-League Cleveland Charge
- the Cleveland WNBA 2028 Expansion Team
- Rock Entertainment Sports Network
- the PGA TOUR’s Rocket Classic (Detroit)
REG also manages operations of key venues such as Cleveland Clinic Courts and Rocket Arena, the largest driver of economic impact in Cuyahoga County.
"We are happy to welcome Trustee Clayton to Tri-C," said Geralyn Presti, chair of the board. "He will be a great asset to our Board of Trustees. He has a wealth of experience as a leader in the world of business and has a tremendous devotion to community service."
At REG, Clayton leads the Social Impact and Equity team, Cavaliers Legends program and the Cavaliers Community Foundations. Recently awarded the 2025 NBA inclusion award, Clayton's team is rooted in a strong, intentional culture defined by REG’s mission to deliver epic experiences to team members, fans, the community and the world.
The Cavs commitment to community impact is a result of Chairman Dan Gilbert's powerful philosophy: "For More Than Profit." This guiding principle has shaped a slate of initiatives that harness the unique reach of professional sports and entertainment for sustained equitable change in Northeast Ohio.
Beyond REG, Clayton helped develop the strategic framework for the first Cleveland pro sports alliance, CL3 (Three Team Alliance), in collaboration with the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers, NFL Cleveland Browns and MLB Cleveland Guardians. This collaboration aims to create more just, equitable and engaged communities through improved policing, educational access and civic participation.
Before joining REG, he held senior positions at Bon Secours Mercy Health, the United States Tennis Association, Russell Athletic/Spalding, Procter & Gamble and the American Cancer Society.
In addition to his service on the Tri-C Board, Clayton's community service includes serving as chair of the Urban League of Greater Cleveland and Black Sports Professionals. He holds board positions with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, the Presidents' Council Foundation Board and the City Club of Cleveland, among others.
He has received numerous awards and honors, including Good Human's Bellwether Award, Savoy Magazine's Top 50 Diversity Executives, the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio Humanitarian Award and Uptown Professional Magazine's Top 100 African American Executives, along with many other personal, team and organizational recognitions.
A Cleveland native, Clayton is an inductee of the Shaker Heights High School Hall of Fame and an alumnus of North Carolina Central University and Wilmington College. He is dedicated to his family and has four daughters and three grandchildren.
