The CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Programs in the Emergency Medical Services Professions, May 1, 2017, by Ed Bak

II.C. Program Goals - Minimum Expectation

"To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels."

New Fire-EMS Degree, July 19, 2016, By Ed Bak

In July 2016, The Ohio Department of Higher Education approved the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fire-Emergency Medical Services for the Tri-C EMT and Fire Academy Programs. The degree will be offered as a degree option beginning in the Fall semester 2016. This is designed for individuals pursuing a career as a Firefighter-Paramedic. Upon successful completion of the degree you will meet the State of Ohio requirements to be certified as a Firefighter 2 and Paramedic.

The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoA EMSP), verifies that the following program: Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Cuyahoga Community College Cleveland, OH is judged to be in compliance with the nationally established standards and awarded initial accreditation on Jan. 15, 2015, and expiring Jan. 31, 2020.

Paramedic Curriculum Change, effective Fall 2012, Dec. 6, 2011, by Daniel Beil

The EMT Department is changing the Paramedic curriculum to meet updated education standards. Students beginning the paramedic program in Fall 2012 will take an additional course, EMT 2370 Paramedic Theory V. This will add five semester hours to the total paramedic program. The prerequisites include the EMT Short-Term certificate. Students who have completed EMT training at another institution will need to take EMT 1401 Anatomy and Physiology for Paramedics, or equivalent coursework to meet entry requirements.
