The Graphic Design Program provides a curriculum integrating the latest digital graphics applications and technologies while mastering the principles of design. The Graphic Design Program gives students the knowledge and studio skills necessary for a career in today’s challenging commercial arts and graphic design fields. You’ll complete the program with a strong, interdisciplinary portfolio ready to present to potential employers.
Curriculum:
You’ll achieve a solid foundation in the elements and principles of:
- Design Layout
- Drawing
- Imagery
- Color
- Typography
- Illustration
- Web Design
The program combines learning form, function, aesthetics, drawing, creative thinking and computer technology. Advanced courses include advertising design and marketing, public relations, direct marketing, media plan development and writing/ editing storyboards for mass media. Practical course projects include designing greeting cards, logos, magazines, web pages, three-dimensional graphics and packaging systems. The curriculum prepares you with real-world, hands-on projects that address current industry trends and needs.
Customized degree programs in Technical Studies can be attained by combining technical courses from a variety of visual communications areas.
Specialized lectures and labs
These lectures and labs focus on selected topics or current issues in Photography, Digital imaging, Digital Publishing and Interactive Media are offered each semester. Formats vary from 1-day to 4-week workshops and full semester lecture and/or lab classes.
