Training Information

All faculty will be required to complete a three-hour, asynchronous, on-demand LMS Training (D2L1000). This required training is eligible for one SEU (Stipend-Eligible Unit) toward the adjunct faculty stipend and two service credits for full-time faculty.

Additional optional synchronous support sessions will also be available and are eligible for one SEU toward the adjunct faculty stipend and one service credit for full-time faculty.

Registration for all D2L's Brightspace trainings can be done in Compass. Links to register are in the descriptions below.

Register for D2L’s Brightspace Basics for Faculty Curriculum (D2L1000) — Required

Brightspace Basics for Faculty is an on-demand training that can be launched in Compass at any time. All faculty are required to complete the training prior to teaching courses in D2L’s Brightspace.

The three-hour training is divided into three modules:

  1. Designing Your Course
  2. Building Your Course
  3. Delivering Your Course

Training completion is automatically recorded in Compass as soon as all three modules are completed.

This training is eligible for 1 SEU for adjunct faculty and 2 service credits for full-time faculty.

Register for Build-A-Brightspace Sessions (FDEV6617) - Optional

Join your faculty development FDEV coordinators, LMS Champs, ID&LE and OLAT colleagues in a collaborative, active working session where faculty can continue to build their course sites, get feedback and ask questions during open working sessions. No formal presentations or training will occur during these sessions. Bring your device, Brightspace course materials, questions or feedback for colleagues. You can share your site, what worked well (or didn’t) for you, ask questions or get feedback from others. Sessions will be held in computer labs at each of the four campuses, and faculty can come and go as you are available. These sessions are primarily designed for faculty who have completed Brightspace Basics training and are concentrating on building their Brightspace courses. However, all faculty interested in Brightspace (at any stage in their journey) are welcome to attend, and we will meet them where they are.

Register for a Support Sessions for Work in the LMS (D2L1002) — Optional

Optional synchronous virtual or on-campus D2L Brightspace Support Sessions are one-hour Q & A sessions covering the Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS). Attend a session to ask questions, get tips, and problem-solve issues like these: guidance to prepare for moving content to Brightspace, clean-up after a course has been moved from Blackboard, tips for organizing course Modules, or advice to set up your Grade Center. Members of the Instructional Design & Learning Excellence team and LMS Faculty Champions will be available. Eligible for 1 SEU towards the adjunct faculty stipend and 1 service credit for full-time faculty.
