Nick Giammarco, Paige Ray honored at annual picnic
Two students with ties to Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) recently received scholarship awards from PFLAG’s Cleveland chapter.
Nick Giammarco and Paige Ray were honored at PFLAG Cleveland’s annual picnic on Aug. 14. Named for chapter co-founder Jes Sellers, these scholarships provide financial assistance to outstanding undergraduate, graduate and professional students enrolled in or admitted to any higher education institution.
Ray, a 2022 Tri-C grad and Mandel Scholar, earned an Associate of Arts before transferring to Cleveland State University to study sociology. Giammarco is a current student and member of the student-run Lambda GSA. He plans to pursue psychology and LGBTQ studies.
PFLAG Cleveland was established in 1985 to provide educational and emotional support for families and friends of LGBTQ individuals as well as for LGBTQ people and allies.
