Tri-C To Host Tax Preparation Clinics for Earned Income Tax Credit Filers
Free clinics in February and March at Metro Campus
CLEVELAND — To maximize federal and state income refunds for low-income earners, Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) will host a series of tax preparation clinics to help eligible taxpayers claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Many eligible taxpayers are unaware of the benefit — approximately one in five eligible filers don't claim the EITC for their taxes, according to the IRS.
The first clinic is on Feb. 28 at the Metropolitan Campus, with a second clinic in March. Individuals or families earning up to $69,000 a year qualify for free tax services from the Cuyahoga EITC Coalition.
The clinic times are:
- Saturday, Feb. 28 | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Thursday, March 5 | 2 – 7 p.m.
All clinics will take place at:
- Tri-C Metropolitan Campus
2900 Community College Ave.
MetroHealth Sciences and Health Careers Lobby (Parking is available in Lot 2)
The EITC is a federal benefit designed to help low- and moderate-income individuals or families reduce taxes owed, increase a refund or provide one even if no taxes are owed.
Qualified participants who want to attend a clinic event can visit the Cuyahoga EITC Coalition website or dial 211 to make an appointment. Only a limited number of walk-in appointments are available. Participants should bring the required documents to their appointment.
Volunteer IRS-certified tax preparers will be available to help participants verify their eligibility for the EITC and file their returns electronically.
Individuals will also be available to assist students and potential students with submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or creating a FAFSA ID, provided they bring a valid ID and 2024 tax returns.
For more information, contact Lisanetta McDade, the director of community relations and strategic initiatives, at the Metro Campus.
