Spring 2025 Commencement: Veronica Fayez Isaac Follows Her Calling at Tri-C
Veronica Fayez Isaac came to the U.S. eight years ago from Egypt to start a new life with her spouse. She had a bachelor's degree but couldn't find work in her field. Inspired by her father's work as an attorney, Fayez Isaac decided to change careers and follow her true calling to practice law, which brought her to Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®).
"Growing up, I admired his dedication and compassion for helping others," she said. "That passion stayed with me, even when I earned a degree in graphic design overseas."
At Tri-C, she enrolled in ESL classes to improve her English during the pandemic. After having a second child, she came back to the College's Paralegal Studies program, which is approved by the American Bar Association. The College offered her the flexibility, support and opportunities as a mother and international student to restart her career.
Fayez Isaac was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Lambda Epsilon Chi, the national paralegal studies academic honor society. She also received two Stomp academic awards (October 2024 and February 2025), which inspired her to keep striving for success and made her feel proud, recognized and supported as a student.
A pivotal moment of her education was an internship with the Crime Strategies Unit at the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office, where she was able to apply her classroom knowledge to real-world legal work, growing her confidence and skills.
"Balancing motherhood, academics and professional development has made me stronger and more determined," she said. "I love that the legal profession allows me to help people, solve problems and advocate for justice."
Fayez Isaac will receive a Post-Degree Certificate from the School of Business, Legal Professions and Hospitality during the College's Spring Commencement on May 16. She plans to work as a paralegal before the next step in her academic journey — attending Cleveland State University College of Law and becoming an attorney.
Describe your Tri-C experience. Has a specific person, class or event played a role in your success?
My Tri-C experience has been transformative. I am especially grateful for program director Candice Storey, whose mentorship and guidance were instrumental in my success. I also owe thanks to professors Mardy Chaplin, Joseph Fell and Paul Kuzmickas, whose encouragement and expertise prepared me well for the legal field.
How has Tri-C changed your life?
Tri-C has opened doors I never imagined possible. It gave me the education, skills and confidence to pursue my passion for law and build a career in the legal field. Through Tri-C, I became a notary public, an honor society member, a two-time Stomp award recipient and an intern at the prosecutor's office. Tri-C helped me transition from an immigrant with limited English to a proud, accomplished legal professional preparing for law school.
Do you have any pearls of wisdom to share with students considering a similar degree or certificate program?
Believe in yourself and never give up, even when the journey is difficult. Use every resource available — whether it's your professors, advisors or fellow students. Don't be afraid to ask questions or seek help. Get involved in student organizations, internships and leadership opportunities because they will build your skills and confidence.
Tri-C will celebrate the academic achievements of its newest graduates during Commencement on May 16 at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland. Check our News and Events page leading up to the event for more highlights from the Class of 2025.
