Softball Jumps to 15th in Latest NJCAA Poll
Six-game winning streak includes three victories over teams previously ranked ahead of Tri-C
In the question of quantity versus quality, the Tri-C Triceratops softball team is proving you can have both.
Tri-C’s win quantity is among the best in NJCAA Division II, with a 12-4 overall record bolstered by a current winning streak that stands at six games. The Triceratops’ win total was enough to jump two spots in Tuesday’s weekly NJCAA Division II poll. Tri-C now sits at 15th in the nation, after ranking 17th in the March 19 poll.
But the Triceratops are racking up quality wins as well. Their current winning streak includes three wins against teams that previously ranked above Tri-C: An 8-1 win March 15 against Madison Area Technical College and a doubleheader sweep (10-8 and 9-0) this past Saturday against Community College of Baltimore County Catonsville.
In Tuesday’s rankings, Madison Area Technical College and CCBC Catonsville both dropped behind Tri-C — Madison to 16th and CCBC Catonsville out of the rankings.
The Triceratops also defeated the Thomas University junior varsity team 14-5 and swept a doubleheader at Hagerstown Community College (6-2 and 9-1) during their winning streak.
Tri-C closes out March with a pair of doubleheaders: Thursday at Surry Community College in Dobson, North Carolina, and Friday at Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville, Virginia. The Triceratops’ next home action is an April 9 doubleheader against Lakeland Community College. All home games are played at the Western Campus.
