Howard Lewis Becomes Tri-C Foundation Chairperson

Leadership team announced during annual meeting

Graphic with image of Howard LewisCLEVELAND — The Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) Foundation announced its 2024-2025 leadership team during its annual meeting.

Howard L. Lewis was named the chairperson of the Tri-C Foundation board of directors. Lewis founded Family Heritage Life Insurance Company of America in 1989 and served as its president and CEO until April 2014, when he was named the chairman emeritus. He retired at the end of 2019 and became a Tri-C Foundation director that same year. He has also been the chairperson of the Foundation's development committee since 2020. He was a cochair of the successful Skills to Succeed campaign, which wrapped up in 2023, raising more than $58 million for the College.

Lewis succeeds Patrick M. Pastore, the regional president of PNC Bank's Cleveland market, who had served as a Foundation director since 2019 and became the chairperson in June 2022. During his tenure, Tri-C strengthened its relationship with PNC, which supported Student Resources for Economic Recovery, the High Tech Academy, scholarships and internships and was the presenting sponsor of the Tri-C Presidential Scholarship Luncheon. His leadership profile was featured in the Spring 2025 Invest in People newsletter. During his tenure, the Tri-C Foundation and the College raised $65.5 million in public and philanthropic funds, and the Tri-C Foundation's endowed assets grew 20%.
