Fall 2023 Commencement: Quentin Hudson Earns Two Associate Degrees

Parma resident earning Associate of Arts from Tri-C, plans to pursue four-year degree

Graphic of Quentin HudsonQuentin Hudson strives to improve himself each year. The 21-year-old Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) student has done just that by earning two associate degrees since coming to Tri-C in 2020.

"I’m hardworking, and I like to get out of my comfort zone," Hudson said. "I strive to be a better version of myself than the year before."

He credits his family and the Say Yes staff for supporting him along his journey. Say Yes to Education Cleveland is a scholarship for Cleveland Metropolitan School District students who meet certain criteria. The scholarship aims to close the gap on tuition costs, enabling more students to take advantage of post-secondary education.

The Parma resident will graduate with an Associate of Arts during the College’s Fall Commencement on Dec. 14 at the Wolstein Center. Hudson plans to transfer to Cleveland State University to major in mechanical engineering or game design.

Why did you choose Tri-C?
I enrolled in Tri-C in 2020 because it was the best option for me and the most affordable.

Describe your Tri-C experience.
I’ve had a blast meeting staff and faculty in my program. The Say Yes program has been a huge help during my transition to college life, from coaching me in my studies to being a friend I can chat with. The coaches and director have been the best help during my time here and have been nothing but supportive of me.

How has Tri-C changed your life?
I earned two degrees and will graduate without any student loans. I had great support during my educational journey that I will carry with me throughout my life.

Do you have any pearls of wisdom to share with students considering a similar degree or certificate program?
First, don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone. Second, come prepared to succeed and fail. The best advice someone gave me was to never give up if you fail, because that is the first step to succeeding.

Cuyahoga Community College will celebrate the academic achievements of its newest graduates during Commencement on Dec. 14 at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland. Check our News and Events page leading up to the event for more highlights from the Class of 2023.
