Free eye exams and glasses to help underserved/under-resourced patients see clearly
Wednesday, March 8, 2023
10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Metropolitan Campus Optical Dispensary (MSHC 118)
*Details to come, including registration information.
More than 90 million adults and 10 million children in the United States are at high risk for serious vision loss, but only half visited an eye doctor in the past year. Many more are unable to afford eyeglasses. This includes hundreds of people in Greater Cleveland.
Fortunately, charitable eye doctors around the country and in Northeast Ohio are stepping up to fill the gap — and Essilor Vision Foundation is leading the way. Their Changing Life through Lenses program provides those in need with a free pair of glasses, including frames and lenses, along with a free vision screening from a local eye doctor.
Essilor will host a special one-day event at Tri-C for up to 75 patients in need. Each will receive a vision exam from an area doctor, followed by an eyeglass fitting by students in Tri-C’s Optical Technology program. Eyeglasses will be delivered to the Metro Campus for pickup.
*Without charitable doctors and advocates for vision, millions of people across the United States would be unable to access and afford the vision care they need. This event is open to the public, however, Cuyahoga Community College employees are excluded from participating in the Changing Lives through Lenses events.
