Western Campus 60th Anniversary Celebration

Picture of Western Campus with the text 60th Anniversary - 1966-2026 overlaid

Celebrating 60 Years of Opportunity

For six decades, Tri-C® Western Campus has been a place where opportunity begins and futures take shape. Since opening in 1966, the campus has served generations of students in  the surrounding communities — expanding access to education, strengthening the workforce and helping individuals build better lives.

What started as a bold vision for community education has grown into a thriving campus that supports thousands of students each year through academic programs, workforce training and community partnerships.

As we celebrate 60 years of impact, we honor the students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners who have shaped Western Campus into what it is today — and look ahead to the future we will continue to build together.

April 23 Celebration Events

On April 23, 2026, the Tri-C Western Campus will host a a variety of special events recognizing six decades of impact, innovation and community connection.

The event will bring together alumni, community leaders, partners, faculty and supporters to reflect on the campus’s history and celebrate the people and partnerships that have helped shape its success.

Some events are invite-only event for campus partners.

7:30 - 8:45 a.m. | Galleria

We're starting the day by celebrating 60 years of the Tri-C Western Campus with a special kickoff breakfast and State of Tri-C Address. College President Dr. Michael A. Baston and Western Campus President Dr. Rebecca Rahschulte will highlight the past, present and future of the campus — along with the impact Tri-C continues to make across our community.

* This event is by invitation only.*

9 - 10 a.m. | STEM Building, D103

Tri-C President Dr. Michael A. Baston will host a listening session with community partners focused on strengthening collaboration, identifying shared goals, and exploring new opportunities for engagement.

* This event is by invitation only.*

10:30 - 11:45 a.m. | Meet in STEM Building lobby

Explore the rich history of the Tri-C Western Campus through a guided historical tour with Matthew Miller, manager of Veteran Military Connected Services and archivist of the Crile Archives Center. Guests will have the opportunity to learn about key milestones, people and stories that shaped the campus over the past 60 years.

12:30 - 1 p.m. | Galleria

Western Campus will come together for a special lunch and panel discussion featuring Tri-C students and alumni as they share how the campus shaped their journeys —  how community helped them create opportunities for learning, leadership and career growth.

* This event is by invitation only.*

2:15 - 3 p.m. | Theatre Lobby

The Tri-C Western Campus is honored to host the Rolling Thunder POW/MIA Chair of Honor Ceremony. This meaningful tribute recognizes prisoners of war and those missing in action, and it serves as a lasting reminder of service, sacrifice and remembrance.

6 - 7:30 p.m. | Galleria

We near the end of our day-long celebration with an evening reception honoring the people, stories and partnerships that have shaped the Tri-C Western Campus for 60 years. Guests will enjoy a celebration of campus history and community impact, including special video highlights and the dedication of the new Wall of Presidents.

* This event is by invitation only.*

7:30 - 9 p.m. | Theatre

Our end ends with a production by Tri-C's theatre department. Join us for “Play On!," a comedy about a community theater group attempting to stage a chaotic new murder mystery. As rehearsals unfold, the eccentric playwright keeps rewriting the script, actors miss cues and forget lines, and the frustrated director struggles to hold everything together. By opening night, the production falls hilariously apart, forcing the cast to improvise as they try to keep the show going.
