TRIO Student Support Services

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program is a Title IV federally funded grant provided by the U. S. Department of Education. Our mission is to equip traditionally underrepresented students who meet our eligibility requirements with the education, skills, resources, and support they need towards graduation and / or transfer to a four-year institution towards completion of a bachelor’s degree.

TRIO SSS has been on the Metropolitan Campus since 1979 and has a proven track record of success for students. The Western Campus joined the TRIO family in 2010, and our newest member is the Eastern Campus, which started its affiliation in Fall 2015!

As our name suggests, we provide a variety of support services to Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) students who meet grant requirements. All services are provided at no cost to participants.

Students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of these services, such as:

Academic Advising: Ensure SSS students meet course requirements to complete programs in a timely manner.

Tutoring: Provide accessibility to one-on-one or group tutoring in various subjects.

Financial Aid: Assists students with financial aid information.

Academic Development Workshops: Offer an array of workshops covering topics on study skills, time management, test-taking strategies, finances, and much more.

Cultural Enrichment Activities: Provide cultural enrichment activities/events.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Enrolled at Cuyahoga Community College
  • Seeking a degree or certificate
  • In need of academic, personal or financial support
  • U.S. citizen or eligible for Federal Financial Aid
  • 2.0 GPA or higher
  • First-generation student (parents do not have a bachelor’s degree)
  • Income-eligible (based on federal income guidelines)
  • SAS participants with a verified disability on file

For additional questions, reach out to one of the TRIO Student Support Services program managers listed below.
