Center for Community Research
What Is the Center for Community Research?
The Center for Community Research (CCR), part of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®), assists in interdisciplinary research projects across Northeast Ohio and educates participants about the research process. These projects can pertain to anthropology, archaeology, history, urban studies and more.
The CCR is also responsible for managing the Anthropology Collections for Teaching (ACT), a large teaching collection of artifacts, maps, reports, reference books, ethnographies and other historical materials from around Northeast Ohio. Learn more about the ACT.
How Can I Get Involved With the CCR?
I want to volunteer with the CCR (students and community volunteers).
The CCR is always seeking volunteers and students to participate in field research. The projects are based in Northeast Ohio (Cuyahoga and surrounding counties) and involve a whole- or half-day commitment. Students interested in participating could receive credit for their involvement. Members of the community are encouraged to participate to learn more about the process of preserving the past and to get hands-on experience with archaeology.
No experience in archaeology is required.
Submit a volunteer form to be added to the notification list for all upcoming CCR projects .
I have a local project that can benefit from the CCR’s involvement (external clients and organizations with a project request).
One of the biggest obstacles to community research is finding field sites. Complete the project request form to let the CCR know if you have a property, building or other project that would benefit from archaeological research.
