All students enrolled in health career programs must complete a background check that includes finger printing and court search (BCI).
Cuyahoga Community College has secured the services of Corporate Screening to provide this service. The results of the screening will be sent directly to the Clinical Site Coordinator. Students with a citation will have their record reviewed on an individual basis and this information will be kept confidential. In some instances a citation may preclude a student from being accepted into a health career program.
Students may review the guidelines that are used to evaluate the background checks at the following links:
• Ohio Board of Nursing
• Northeast Ohio Nursing Initiative
The BCI must be completed prior to being accepted into the program.
• Previous background checks or background checks completed by another vendor will not be accepted.
• Students are responsible for the payment of these BCI services. The cost is $85.00 for students who have lived in Ohio for the past five years; for those who have not, the cost is $94.00.
• The BCI will be valid as long as the student is in the health career program.
• Students returning to a health career program after a two year or more absence will need to complete another background check.
• A student will not have to repeat the BCI if they change programs within two years of enrolling in the first program.
PROCEDURE
1. Prior to going to Corporate Screening Services to complete their background check, the
student will register and pay online for their background check at: www.VerifyStudents.com.
Detailed instructions for navigating through the VerifyStudents.com process are available in a printer-
friendly PDF by clicking here. The Password is: cccstudent.
2. The student prints a copy of the receipt that is produced as a result of payment. This provides proof
that you paid and provides the student with a confirmation code.
3. The student will receive an e-mail message from Corporate Screening containing their password.
This password should be retained by the student. The student then goes to Corporate Screening,
shows them the receipt and undergoes fingerprinting.
1. State Issued Photo ID
2. Receipt from www.VerifyStudents.com
4. The student provides the receipt to the program manager/faculty coordinator as proof that they had
the BCI done.
Please note: Health career programs do not provide copies of background checks to students or potential employers. If the clinical site requires a copy, the student will submit their password to the site or employer. The site/employer will log onto the site using the student’s password and review the background check. The student is then responsible for changing their password on the Corporate Screening web site, thereby preventing others from viewing their report.
