Tri-C Westshore Campus President Receives Phi Theta Kappa Honors Award
Scott Latiolais recognized for supporting student success and high-achieving students
Scott Latiolais, Ed.D., president of the Westshore Campus at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®), has received the Paragon Award for New Presidents, given by the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society.
The award recognizes college presidents who have shown support for student success initiatives — leading to stronger pathways to completion, transfer and employment — as well as supporting high-achieving students and developing student leaders on campus.
"It is heartening to know that the commitment to student success, shared by the Tri-C family, has been acknowledged in such a meaningful way," said Latiolais. "I am honored to receive this recognition on behalf of Westshore. I want to express my deep appreciation to the high-achieving students who nominated me. Phi Theta Kappa's success at Tri-C has indeed been a team effort, and its student leaders and advisors continue to demonstrate the highest commitment to excellence and student success."
The award is given to a college president or CEO who has served less than three years. Recipients are nominated by students on their campus and are only eligible to receive the award once.
"These college presidents have students-first leadership styles and make it a priority to support student success both inside and outside the classroom," said Phi Theta Kappa President and CEO Lynn Tincher-Ladner. "This award is special because it comes directly from the students, and it is evidence of the gratitude they feel for the support for them and students like them."
Tri-C hosts four PTK chapters across the College: Alpha Epsilon Eta at the Eastern Campus, Alpha Zeta Delta at the Metropolitan Campus, Chi Omega at the Western Campus and Beta Upsilon Beta at the Westshore Campus.
PTK started at Tri-C in 1979 and has about 1,300 active members across all four campuses.
Latiolais will be one of 24 college presidents recognized at PTK Catalyst 2024, the society's annual convention in Orlando, Florida, from April 4 ̶ 6.
