The First Amendment Free Speech
- The First Amendment issue of free speech could not be more important. Being able to speak out for a candidate or cause or to speak against that same issue or candidate is the bedrock of the American idea of democracy. Together we will spend our class time looking at why the founding fathers thought this was so important it is part of the First Amendment and the US Supreme Court landmark cases which define our Freedom of Speech. Our history leads to us to our present conflict between this freedom and our respect for our country and our flag. Can there be both?
