About the Conference
The Black Diamonds conference is a support initiative to provide access to information regarding: programing, educational alternatives and services to increase educational success, emotional wellbeing, and financial stability of African American girls and women. A core focus of the conference is to promote career opportunities which traditionally have minimal participation of women. The conference is a collaborative effort of educational institutions, community organizations, corporate partners and individuals to provide continuous developmental opportunities for African American women and girls in the greater Northeast Ohio area.
We believe women, and specifically African American women, lack access to opportunities related career and occupations. One goal of the Black Diamonds conference is to expand readiness, access and participation of women of color in occupations/jobs/professions which offer sustainable pay, security, personal satisfaction, and upward financial mobility.
A two-day conference, scheduled for October of each year, is the kick-off of a year-long series of workshops developed to deliver information related to identified strands highlighted during the conference: mental and physical wellbeing, occupational/educational access, and financial literacy.
