GenCyber Security Academy
Tri-C’s GenCyber Security Academy will introduce current 7th and 8th grade students (2015-2016 academic year) to computer-related security topics. They will learn the importance of online safety, be introduced to computer and network security and introductory programming concepts, and explore career paths related to Information Technology.
Student learning and discovery will be guided by college IT faculty and they will have hands-on practice using a programmable robot known as a Sphero Sprk, as well as a small, credit card-sized computer known as a Raspberry Pi.
Cost:
The summer camp is FREE!
- All academy costs are covered through a grant provided jointly by the National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation.
- As an added bonus, all students completing the camp will get to keep a Sphero Sprk programmable robot ball valued at $130.
