If you are not an active Tri-C student, you must apply to the College first. If you are interested in more than one health careers program, you must submit a separate health careers application for each program.  You may only apply to three programs at one time.

The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled professional who assists the physician with patient care's administrative and clinical aspects.  The program includes courses to prepare competent entry-level medical assistants in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.  There are courses in administrative, clinical, and communication skills; ethical and legal standards of medical practice; and a "hands-on" clinical practicum experience.  Graduates are eligible to take the National Certifying Examination given by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).

OUTCOME:  The Medical Assisting Program at Cuyahoga Community College has a five-year average retention rate of 76% for the years 2019-2023. Several support services are available to help students complete the program successfully.

OUTCOME:  The Medical Assisting Program at Cuyahoga Community College has a five-year average of 70% for job placement for the years 2019-2023. There are several support services to assist in job placement.

OUTCOME: The Medical Assisting Program at Cuyahoga Community College has a five-year average certification exam passage rate of 69% for the years 2019-2023.

OUTCOME:  The Medical Assisting Program at Cuyahoga Community College has a five-year average Graduate and Employer Satisfaction rate of 100% for the years 2019-2023. 

Upon completing the coursework program, a student must complete 160 hours of a supervised, non-paid practicum for program completion.

The Cuyahoga Community College Medical Assisting Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).
