Tri-C Students Take Stage at Playhouse Square
College production of ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ set for Nov. 3-5 at Ohio Theatre
Theater students from Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) will present To Kill a Mockingbird in the College’s first production staged in the Ohio Theatre at Playhouse Square.
Performances will take place Nov. 3-5 at the historic downtown theater. Students from multiple Tri-C campuses will perform and work behind the scenes to bring Harper Lee’s classic novel to life on one of the nation’s grandest stages.
“Tri-C’s students and theater program are ready for this opportunity,” said Paul Cox, the College’s dean of creative arts. “The lights don’t come much brighter than Playhouse Square. Staging a production in that venue will provide an unforgettable learning experience.”
The performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3; 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4; and 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. Tickets are $20 and are available at www.playhousesquare.org or by calling 216-241-6000. The Ohio Theatre is located at 1511 Euclid Ave.
The timely play uses community reaction to a grave crime and court case to explore racial tensions in the South during the early 20th century and applaud the strength of those who fight injustice.
