Tri-C Student-Athletes Earn NJCAA Academic Honors

Seven Challengers honored for their success in the classroom

Tri-C Student-Athletes Earn NJCAA Academic HonorsSeven student-athletes at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) earned All-Academic honors from the NJCAA for their classroom success in 2016-2017.

Students needed to achieve at least a 3.6 GPA to gain All-Academic status. Honorees received either a first-team (4.0 GPA), second-team (3.80-3.99 GPA) or third-team (3.60-3.79) designation.

The following Tri-C student-athletes were recognized:

  • Soccer player Kevaughn Blake received second-team honors. The sophomore from Westmoreland, Jamaica is studying accounting at the College.
  • Softball player Nicole Ferrara received second-team honors. The sophomore from Independence graduated in May with an Associate of Applied Business degree in accounting.
  • Volleyball player Holly Hoffman received first-team honors. The sophomore from Streetsboro is in the College’s Sport and Exercise Studies program.
  • Volleyball player Leah Stilla received third-team honors. The sophomore from Berea graduated in May with two degrees — an Associate of Arts and an Associate of Science.
  • Baseball player Hunter Tome received third-team honors. The sophomore from Westerville, Ohio, graduated in May with an Associate of Applied Science degree in criminal justice.
  • Softball player Serena Tucciarelli received second-team honors. The sophomore from Garfield Heights is on track to graduate this summer with an Associate of Arts degree.
  • Volleyball player Bethany Weisenseel received first-team honors. The sophomore from Parma graduated in December with an Associate of Arts degree.
