Tri-C Hosting Conference to Showcase 3D Printing
Event will be held Sept. 8-9 at Corporate College East in Warrensville Heights

The market for 3D printing grew almost 26 percent last year to $5.2 billion. Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) wants to help Northeast Ohio companies gain a piece of that business.
The College will host the second annual Regional 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing Conference on Sept. 8-9 to showcase the industry’s economic possibilities. The event will be held at Corporate College® East, located at 4400 Richmond Road in Warrensville Heights.
The conference, dubbed R3D@Tri-C, is designed for companies looking to enter the additive manufacturing field or enhance existing operations. The event also targets medical professionals looking to utilize the technology.
Additive manufacturing uses a digital model to create a three-dimensional object by repeatedly adding layers of materials. 3D printers can manufacture products of virtually any design complexity.
The conference begins Thursday night with a presentation from engineers at the Cleveland Clinic’s Lerner Research Institute, which is expanding the boundaries of 3D printing in the medical field.
Friday features a series of seminars and workshops. The day’s keynote speaker will be Edward D. Herderick, Additive Technologies Leader of GE Corporate Supply Chain and Operations, who will discuss the industrialization of additive manufacturing.
The conference also will feature interactive exhibits of the latest additive manufacturing technology, as well as a variety of hands-on activities.
Registration for R3D@Tri-C is $110, which includes meals, presentations, exhibits and activities. Reduced rates are available for groups and educators. For more information or to register, visit the website or call 216-987-4424.
Tri-C recently launched a. one-year certificate program to train individuals in 3D digital design and additive manufacturing, as well as non-credit courses geared for manufacturing professionals.
