Tri-C Hispanic Students to Receive $75,000 in Scholarships
More than 100 students will be honored at July 28 event
CLEVELAND — Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) will hold its 2017 Hispanic Scholarship Luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 28, at the Jerry Sue Thornton Center.
More than 100 Hispanic students will receive $75,000 in scholarships during the luncheon at the center, located at 2500 E. 22nd St. in Cleveland. The event is sponsored by the College’s Hispanic Council and held in honor of Hispanic achievement in higher education.
“These successful students — 110 in all — truly give us a reason to celebrate,” said Esther Kraft, Hispanic Council program manager. “We’re proud to assist so many deserving students with their college expenses. This investment in people will help grow the next generation of leaders in Northeast Ohio.”
The scholarships for the 2017–2018 academic year are awarded through the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation and made possible through the support of many donors, including AT&T and KeyBank.
The Foundation established the special scholarship fund in 2003 to provide financial assistance to qualified Hispanic students.
“The generosity of our partners makes a tremendous impact on the lives of our students,” said Megan O’Bryan, the College’s vice president of development and the Tri-C Foundation. “This critical support provides access to higher education, opening opportunities for academic success and a bright future.”
The Hispanic Council of Tri-C serves Cleveland’s Hispanic families by offering bilingual assistance with enrollment, financial aid, class registration, English as a Second Language (ESL) courses and scholarship opportunities. It also connects Hispanic students with Tri-C programs, services, faculty and staff.
