Tri-C Baseball Players Sweep Weekly OCCAC Awards
Matt Starcovic and Axel Bueter honored after leading team to eight victories
Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) baseball players Matt Starcovic and Axel Bueter earned Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week honors from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference for their performances April 17-23.
Both played key roles in leading Tri-C to eight victories during the week, including a pair of dominating doubleheader sweeps against conference rival Clark State Community College.
Starcovic slammed two home runs, scored 11 runs and added nine RBIs during the week, with 11 hits in 20 at-bats. This is his second consecutive OCCAC Player of the Week award and his third on the season.
The outfielder ranks among the team and conference leaders in most batting categories. The sophomore from North Olmsted is working toward an Associate of Arts degree at Tri-C.
Bueter won two games during the week, logging 10.2 innings over two starts. He struck out 19 batters while allowing only one earned run and six hits. The sophomore from Wauseon, Ohio improved his record to 3-0 on the season.
The transfer student from Bowling Green State University is pursuing an Associate of Arts degree at Tri-C.
